It is
with sadness that we report that Patricia passed away
Jan. 5 2003 after a long battle with cancer. She will

Ron
Edeal, M.A., M.F.T.
Ron
is a licensed Marriage, Family, Child Counselor. He
has a B.A. in Psychology from Bethany Bible College,
and an M.A. in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling
from Azusa Pacific University. Ron is a recovering addict/alcoholic/ACA
with more than eleven years experience as a family/patient
counselor in drug/alcohol addiction treatment at both
the Clint Eastwood Youth Program and the Adrian Center
of Dominican Hospital. In additions to working with
chemical dependency, Ron Specializes in working with
other addictions, depression, grief, fatherless issues,
abuse, marital and family conflict, premarital issues,
communication problems, adolescent parenting conflicts,
divorce recovery and step-parenting. Ron is an affiliate
and maintains his private practice at Relational Resources.
Ron, his wife Kahleen, and their two daughters reside
in Mt. Hermon. Ron also has 4 adult children. Ron and
Kahleen (who is a teacher and administrator) have a
vision for teaching and supporting parents as “we
all learn/grow together in the process of parenting,
growing in the knowledge of God’s love”.
Ron facilitates groups and speaks at seminars and retreats.
Karen
Lansing, M.A., M.F.T.
Karen Lansing is a California State licensed Marriage, Family Therapist, a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress, and she is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. Her practice is located at Relational Resources in Aptos, California. She has worked with Law Enforcement and Emergency Responders since 1995 and she specializes in the treatment of severe and complicated PTSD. Among her accomplishments in practice is the development of a treatment protocol to successfully deal with "shooting aversion" issues that can grow out of post shooting trauma reactions for officers who have beeninvolved in shootings.
She has been a co-author in a soon to be published study of the impact of PTSD in brain function of Officers involved in shootings as well as how the brain can recover when given appropriate treatment. She has presented research to the 2003 International Conference in Rome, to The Forensic Mental Health Association of California, before the International EMDR Conference (2003), and for the International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies Conference (2004). She has trained for the FBI, mental health care professionals from 27 different countries, and to the Guarda Siochana (Guardians of the Peace) in the Republic of Ireland.
Currently, Karen is on a working Sabbatical in the British Isles where she is teaching and training First Responders and their agencies on the most recent advancements in the treatment for PTSD.

Doug
Crocker, M.A.,M.F.T.
Doug
is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He received
his BA in English Literature from U.C. Berkeley, and his
Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary
in the 1970’s. He then served as pastor for seventeen
years at Presbyterian churches in Los Altos and Felton.
Since graduating from Santa Clara University’s maters’
program in Clinical Psychology in 1998, Doug has focused
his attention on helping individuals, couples and families
who are wrestling with emotions and life decisions, seeking
help in their relationships and grappling with their faith
and direction. Doug has served in agency settings including
work with “at risk” teens and their families,
and with students on elementary school campuses. He sees
individual adults and couples, works with children and
adolescents. and with families in his private practice
settings. His appointments are on Wednesdays at the Relational
Resources Offices in Aptos, and on Tuesdays, Thursdays
and Fridays in Scotts Valley.
Doug
and his wife, Carol Joy, have raised their three, now
adult, boys in Ben Lomond. In addition to his private
practice with us at Relational Resources, he serves
on the board of directors at the Mountain Community
Resources in the San Lorenzo Valley. Doug facilitates
groups and speaks at seminars and retreats.
Caroline J. Joseph, M.A., M.F.T.
Carol has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1986. She is also a Certified Gottman Marital Therapist.
Carol has a B.A. in English from U.C. Berkeley, and an M.A. in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from Azusa Pacific
University, as well as graduate training and certification in the field of education. Carol has worked in the mental
health field for 30 years. Professionally, she has worked in a variety of private practice settings, including Christian
counseling Centers in Hayward and Fremont, Minirth Meier and New Life Clinics in Los Altos, and Altos Christian Counseling.
Carol was also affiliated with the Rapha Inpatient program at Oak Creek Hospital in San Jose, and with the Presbyterian
Church of Sunnyvale. Prior to her professional experience, Carol worked as a para-professional counselor and directed an
ecumenical lay ministry providing crisis and telephone counseling. She also has five years of high school teaching
experience. Carol specializes in marital therapy using the Gottman Method, and she especially enjoys working with women and
adolescent girls on issues including depression, anxiety, codependency, ACA/dysfunctional family/abuse history, eating
disorders and life transitions.
Carol and her husband, Ron, have four married adult children and five grandchildren. They moved to Aptos from Palo
Alto in 2002. Carol facilitates groups and speaks at seminars and retreats.
Francis Krebs,
LCSW
Francis
is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 20 years
experience in mental health and social services, working
in both public and private inpatient and outpatient
settings. A particular area of interest in Francis’s
work has been the treatment of primary school age children
and their families with issues of Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder and other disruptive behavior
disorders. Francis has also worked with adolescents
and adults with a variety of problems, including chronic
depression. Additionally, Francis is familiar
with the complex issues and stresses which families
experience when a family member suffers from a major
mental illness such as schizophrenia. He is available
for consultation and referral in these matters.
Francis
participates in the music ministry as well as various
outreach ministries at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Francis
and his two daughters reside in Santa Cruz.
Angelie Purkey, M.F.T.
Angelie Purkey has been a licensed Marriage and Family therapist since 1994. She has a B.A. in Psychology from UC Davis, an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary and is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Her early training focused primarily on treating adolescents for addiction issues and facilitating recovery groups. Angelie has also treated adults, couples, families and children for a variety of issues including communication, grief, self-esteem and personal growth, depression and anxiety, stress management, boundaries and abuse (physical, emotional and sexual). In addition, Angelie has taught various classes, utilizes PREPARE-ENRICH materials for premarital counseling and has received advanced level training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Currently, she is exploring the area of personal coaching. Angelie is an affiliate with Relational Resources and has appointments available on Thursdays. She also takes appointments on Wednesdays in Scotts Valley.
Angelie, her husband Lee and their two boys make their home in Soquel. Angelie facilitates groups and speaks at seminars and retreats.
Jan Wright, MA, M.F.T
Jan is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with six years counseling experience. She has an M.A. in counseling psychology from John F. Kennedy University (JFKU), is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and is also certified in Basic Level Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for work in trauma.
As part of her training, she worked in the Cupertino School District with elementary and middle school age children and their families and interned at the Parent Center in Santa Cruz providing counseling to individuals, families, children and adolescents. Jan received her license in October 2004 after interning at Relational Resources under the supervision of Donelyn Miller. During her training and after licensure, Jan has had the opportunity to work with clients on a number of issues including substance abuse, parent-child concerns, depression, anxiety, life style changes, and grief and loss issues. She approaches her work from a client centered perspective working with clients to develop and support their unique strengths and inner knowledge and enjoys helping them bring about the growth and changes they desire.
Jan and her husband, Les, have two adult daughters and have lived in the Santa Cruz mountains since 1977. Jan provides counseling at Relational Resources on a sliding scale and sees clients of all ages on Mondays and Fridays in Aptos and on Thursdays in Felton.
Aleta Lewis , M.F.T
Aleta Lewis is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She received her B.A. in Child Development from Chico State University and her Master's in Marriage, Family & Child Counseling from Western Seminary.
Aleta's professional experience includes therapy in different contexts. She has provided therapy at Leigh High School in San Jose. For several summers, she counseled summer staff and conferees at Mount Hermon's Christian Conference Center. During her five year internship at Relational Resources, Aleta treated adults, teens, and families dealing with such issues as parent/child conflicts, boundary issues, depression, communication, abuse, self-esteem and grief. In addition, Aleta has done pre-martial and marital counseling using her training with the
Prepare/Enrich assessment tool. She also has extensive ministry experience in church and camp settings; speaking at retreats, discipling young women, and teaching marriage seminars.
Aleta has been happily married to Andy, her husband of 12 years. She has the privilege of parenting three crazy children whom she loves to play with every day. In her spare time, she enjoys running, knitting, and going to the beach with her family. Aleta, Andy and their kids live in Santa Cruz.
Sharon Richards, M.A., M.F.T.
Sharon works as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has five years experience counseling clients on issues of abuse, parent/child conflicts, adoptions, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, divorce recovery, couples counseling, grief work and life cycle transitions. Sharon approaches her work with clients to develop and support their unique strengths and knowledge in order to bring about self-understanding and positive resolutions. She received her Master of Arts, Marital and Family Therapy, from Western Seminary and her Bachelor of Arts from Bethany College. She is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Sharon interned and continues to work part-time at the Parents Center in Santa Cruz and Watsonville. Other experience lay ministry counseling through her church and includes three years of facilitating a Kin Care Support Group for family members raising a grandchild or other family member. This group is ongoing and encourages clients to focus on the importance of healthy relationships within families.
Sharon is an adopted mother of two grown children, a son and a daughter. They have lived in the Santa Cruz area for twelve years. Sharon provides counseling at Relational Resources on a sliding scale and sees clients of all ages on Mondays and Fridays.
